Josef Müller-Brockmann Award for young designers 2021
Friday, 5 November 2021, 06:30pm, Vortragssaal Museum für Gestaltung, Ausstellungsstrasse 60, 8005 Zürich
Together with this year’s winner Nadine Wüthrich, of the CHF 25,000 prize, the second award ceremony of this sponsorship award will also celebrate the legacy of the great designer Josef Müller-Brockmann.
The award ceremony will be moderated by Jonas Voegeli and Lars Müller (member and president of the Shizuko Yoshikawa Josef Müller-Brockmann Foundation).
James Langdon, professor of communication design at the Staatliche Hochschule für Gestaltung Karlsruhe and internationally renowned graphic designer, will speak about the role of a communication designer in today’s and tomorrow’s world and take a position on current designer training.
Müller-Brockmann (1914-1996) was a pioneer of Swiss graphic design in the 1950s and 1960s and had a major influence on the so-called «Swiss Style», which spread internationally. His posters for the Zurich Tonhalle made him world famous. In Switzerland, the appearance and orientation system of the SBB bear witness to the impact of his work.
